About The Founder
Brian Saulsberry is the Founder and CEO of Backyard Sports Enterprises, a national recruiting management and athlete development company built to help student-athletes and families navigate the college recruiting process with greater clarity, strategy, and access.
A former collegiate lacrosse player and lifelong student-athlete from Memphis, Tennessee, Brian founded Backyard Sports in 2020 around a simple belief: talented athletes should not be overlooked because of where they play, who they know, or their access to the traditional recruiting pipeline.
Today, Backyard Sports works with athletes and families across the country through Backyard Blueprint, the company's personalized recruiting management program. Brian and his team provide honest player evaluations, individualized recruiting strategies, school targeting, college coach outreach, advocacy, film analysis, communication guidance, and support throughout the recruiting process. Backyard Sports also assists college athletes navigating the NCAA transfer process.
Beyond recruiting management, Brian has developed a national portfolio of boutique recruiting events designed to connect athletes directly with college coaches. Backyard Sports events have expanded across multiple regions and include Florida Futures, CLE Circuit, Philly Futures, Hidden Gems, Hometown Hero, and SPARK, creating additional opportunities for athletes from both traditional and emerging lacrosse markets to be evaluated and discovered.
Brian's approach is built around relationships, education, and honest evaluation. Rather than simply creating exposure, Backyard Sports focuses on helping families understand where an athlete realistically fits, identify the right opportunities, and develop a strategy for turning college interest into options.
Through Backyard Sports, Brian has worked with athletes who have gone on to receive recruiting opportunities, roster spots, and scholarship offers across NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, and NAIA programs.
Brian earned his bachelor's degree from Baldwin Wallace University in 2023, where he was a three-year letterwinner at Long Stick Midfield and competed in three OAC Championship games while contributing to three OAC Regular Season Championship teams.
He later earned his M.S. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Tampa in 2024. As a member of Tampa's men's lacrosse program, Brian was part of the Spartans' 2024 Sunshine State Conference Regular Season and Tournament Championship team during an NCAA Tournament run.
Based in Tampa, Florida, Brian continues to lead the expansion of Backyard Sports across recruiting management, events, athlete education, strategic partnerships, and new sports with one goal at the center of the company:
Help athletes understand where they fit, get in front of the right people, and turn opportunities into outcomes.
